Kari Points

Based in Durham, NC, Kari is a white facilitator, anti-racist genealogist, and coach who has dedicated 35 years to organizing for collective liberation. Her expertise integrates racial, gender, and economic justice with healing-centered social change, using Southern organizing strategies and participatory methodologies to support organizations and movements through deep change.

Kari currently serves as the c4 board president for Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) and co-founded We Are Finding Freedom, a project helping white women and genderqueers to stop colluding with white supremacy and patriarchy and love our communities into a healthier future. Her newest initiative, Reckoning With Our Roots, uses radical genealogy and place-based ritual as a way to heal lineage trauma.

Her career spans global and local advocacy. Previously, she advised on safe abortion policy at Ipas, supporting advocacy coalitions and research in Malawi, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, and representing the NGO at the United Nations. Early in her career, she worked in Zimbabwe with Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ) on LGBTQ healthcare access.

Kari grew up working class in rural southern Indiana. She holds a Masters in Public Policy with highest honors from Duke University, with a concentration in global women’s health policy, and a BA from Indiana University with highest honors in German Language and Literature and Cultural Anthropology.
